During the pandemic, the Dominican PTO enhanced efforts to provide a reliable online platform, which entailed the issuance of digital registration certificates for trademarks, therefore removing paper registration certificates once and for all. Same process was later followed with certificates of change of address, which are now entirely digital.
In another leap forward, the Dominican PTO very recently implemented digital renewal certificates for trademarks and trade names. This step provides a more cost-efficient process for renewals since it allows smoother proceedings and removes the costs arising from sending original certificates via Courier. Kudos to the Dominican PTO!
